Green Bay Packers fans have plenty of reasons to like John Kuhn.

For the last nine seasons, the 6-foot, 250-pound fullback has done everything he’s been asked on the field, from playing on special teams to protecting quarterback Aaron Rodgers from blitzes to gaining tough yardage on third and 1 to catching passes in the flat.

Kuhn’s play was instrumental in the wild-card run that brought home the Lombardi Trophy after the 2010 season.

He’s been named to the Pro Bowl four times. And he’s seen as a leader on the team, tabbed by coaches as one of five captains before last season’s playoffs.

What’s more, Wisconsinites feel an abiding connection to the bearded, self-effacing player who entered the league as an undrafted long shot.

Well, if the No. 30 fan club wasn’t big enough, here’s more reason to join: One of Kuhn’s favorite pastimes is fishing.

“I know (fishing) is big here in Wisconsin,” Kuhn said. “I’ve always enjoyed it and feel fortunate to live in Green Bay near so many lakes and great fishing opportunities.”
