LMS Teams up with NFL Stars to launch the third annual Defeat Hunger Bowl

January 7th, 2015

This January, Lammi Sports Management is teaming up with Green Bay Packers tight end Andrew Quarless New Orleans Saints defensive end Cam Jordan, Jacksonville Jaguars running back Denard Robinson and Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Mike Glennon, along with Walmart, Feeding America affiliates, Kraft, Campbell’s, Bimbo Bakery and Mondelez to launch the third annual Defeat Hunger Bowl.

The Defeat Hunger Bowl seeks to raise awareness and food for the hungry with donation boxes accepting non-perishable food items placed inside nearly 300 Walmart and Sam’s Club locations across the country. Donations are being accepted all month and benefit local Feeding America food banks.

Each athlete will help promote the drive by making appearances at Walmart stores in their local market where they will speak with members of the press and sign autographs for community members. The Defeat Hunger Bowl program is also promoted in each market through PSAs recorded by the athletes and partnerships with local media groups.

“Packers fans have always shown me and my teammates so much support, it’s an honor to be able to give back through a program like this,” Quarless said. “Hunger is a huge issue here in Wisconsin, but we have the power to make a real impact by donating food all month at Walmart. Even if it’s just one item, I’d encourage everyone to donate.”

“No one should have to worry about where their next meal is going to come from,” Robinson said. “Join me in donating food at Walmart all month, and together we can make a difference in the lives of people right here in North Florida.”

“Unfortunately too many people think hunger is just an issue around the holidays,” said Glennon. “In reality, people struggle with hunger year round, so it’s important that we do what we can to help people right here in our community. Just one food item can make a difference, and I hope you will join me in donating this month at Walmart.”

“No one should have to go days on end, or even a single day for that matter, without eating a decent meal. Unfortunately that is the reality for thousands of people right here in New Orleans,” said New Orleans Saints defensive end, Cameron Jordan. “I want to encourage everyone to join me in donating food all month at Walmart, even one item can make a difference in someone’s life.”

The Defeat Hunger Bowl has collected hundreds of thousands of pounds of food for those in need. For more information and a list of participating Walmart locations, visit
