Jordy Nelson Among Nominees at 2017 ESPYs

July 6th, 2017

Green Bay Packers’ wide receiver Jordy Nelson played a major role in helping get the team’s 2016 offense back among the ranks of the NFL’s top units. After missing the entire 2015 season with a torn ACL, Nelson bounced back in a big way last season.

The Lammi Sports client finished with 97 catches (5th in the NFL) for 1,257 yards (6th) and a league-leading 14 touchdown receptions. Nelson’s stellar performance led to him being honored as the NFL’s┬áComeback Player of the Year. He was the first Packer and just the second wide receiver (Steve Smith- 2005) to win the award.

Now, Nelson has been nominated for a chance to add another piece of hardware to his collection. ESPN recently announced the nominees for the 25th ESPYs, an annual award ceremony that recognizes the best athletes, performances, and moments in sports. Jordy found himself named a candidate in the “Best Comeback Athlete” category. He’ll be going against tennis player Roger Federer, WNBA star Candace Parker, and the Texas Rangers’ Matt Bush. Fans can vote to decide the winners from each of 33 different categories here.

The Packers have two other nominations, as Aaron Rodgers is up for Best NFL Player and the Rodgers-to-Jared Cook throw in Green Bay’s playoff victory over the Cowboys is in the running for Best Play.

Elsewhere in Wisconsin, Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo earned a nomination for Best Breakthrough Athlete.
