Green Bay’s Super Bowl Champion WR James Jones helped kick off the “Defeat Hunger Bowl,” in Wisconsin this week. Now in its second year, the month-long food drive encourages everyone to donate non-perishable food items at participating Walmart stores. Items donated will benefit local Feeding America food banks in an effort to overcome hunger in Wisconsin.

“As a child, there were a lot of days where my family and I didn’t have any food to eat,” Jones said. “So I know firsthand how important this campaign is and the difference even one item of food can make in someone’s life. I am honored to be a part of this campaign and hope all the Packers fans out there will join me to help out those in need.”

On Tuesday, James did his part to promote the drive by making appearances at Walmart locations in Green Bay and Milwaukee. Jones spoke on the importance of the campaign’s donations and the difference it makes in people’s lives. “It’s a year round thing that we’re trying to tackle and we just hope people understand that and whenever they have an opportunity just donate.”

The “Defeat Hunger Bowl” campaign runs January 8th – February 9th. The food drive, now active in four states across the country, has partnered with Detroit Lions WR Nate Burleson (Michigan), New Orleans Saints RB Pierre Thomas (Louisiana), and Jacksonville Jaguars Kicker Josh Scobee (Florida).
