For a second year, Packers fans showed up in a big way for Jordy Nelson’s Charity Softball game presented by Kwik Trip. “People call us probably a little bit crazy, but we are die hard Packers fans,” said Ashley Erickson of La Crosse. Many of the green and gold faithful at Sunday afternoon’s game were return customers from when former players headlined the event. “We’ve been here for Brett, Donald, and Jordy and all three have been, one has been better than the other,” said Chris Kern of Appleton. “It’s relaxing and to see them in a relaxed state, I like it,” said Tim Erickson of La Crosse. While it is a charity game, benefiting Young Life, the fans still had their game faces on. Just ask the players. “It’s a game day,” said Nelson. “People are tailgating; they are standing right by the parking lot. It’s a different stadium, but it’s very similar to what we do on Sundays. ”I just like seeing all the Packers come and play and it’s a pretty cool thing to see,” said Jacob Kern of Appleton. Even cooler for fans this year: Aaron Rodgers and Clay Matthews were both in attendance. “It’s just all about timing, what everyone has going on, so it’s great to have them back,” said Nelson. “It’s great that they get to do all these different things with the fans,” said Ashley Erickson. “It’s not football, but it’s a good event for his charity and for people to come see the Packers when you can’t get to Lambeau,” said Chris Kern. Even if it isn’t football, the team still put on quite a show. But if you ask some fans, some of these guys might want to stick to their day job.“I think they are better at football because they don’t play softball that much,” said Brady Kern of Appleton. The Packers defense beat the offense, 29-19. However, the two sides traded scores after the fourth inning.
